I am a professional actress and an amateur human being. Acting comes naturally to me; it’s this whole life thing I’m still trying to figure out. I currently reside in New York City, this city not only serves as my home, but as my muse. I am constantly inspired by the diversity, spontaneity, and rawness of New York City and its magnificent people. The unique qualities that make up this city are also ones that I strive to achieve in my acting. As an actor, un-censored truth is the most powerful technique. Lots of people can act; no one else in the world can be you. Currently I am pursuing opportunities in television and film. I have been in over 20 films and network television shows in my past 5 years as a professional actor. I have also worked in a multitude of other positions in the field including crew, production, and marketing. I adore collaboration, which is why I strive to work in as many aspects of the field as possible. I have also just completed a short auto-biographical screenplay with my co-writer, Patricia Selznick. This screenplay happens to be a comedy, and, yes, I happen to be a woman. Women can be funny? Yes, yes they can. Thank you Kristen Wiig.
A few other women whose careers I admire, respect, and would like to emulate are Theresa Rebeck, Carrie Brownstein, and Lena Dunham. These women essentially write and portray characters that exist as a portion of them. As an actor I always play a hyper version of myself, and sometimes a lesser version of myself. This persona is mine and mine alone; with certain qualities of my personality magnified and some left out. Eventually this process yields the best person I can share with the world, and let shine on stage and screen. When I’m not engulfed in acting, which is rare, I am full of passion for creating and living. I love Tolstoy, reading in general (if you lend me a book it will be dog-eared with passages I deem worthy of sharing), Steelers football, beards (wish I could grow one), sand between my toes, The New Yorker (which I read backwards), yoga, crossword puzzles, the great outdoors, bluegrass, and most of all, the company I keep.
